Mental Health Support Through Peer Support for LGBTQ+ Newcomers

This workshop is dedicated to supporting the mental health and wellbeing of LGBTQ+ newcomers through peer support. This workshop will begin by exploring the meaning of mental health and peer support, as well as the specific benefits of peer support. Participants will learn the ethics and guidelines of peer support, as well as be given the opportunity to practice finding similarities with service users and peers, as well as utilizing active listening skills. By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to understand the basics to supporting LGBTQ+ newcomers through peer support programming.
