Navigating Gender and Sexuality in Development: Building Allyship

Join the Sustainable Development Goal Alliance for their International Development Week 2023 event! Theme of IDW this year is Storytelling the SDGs.

Gender and Sexuality in Sustainable Development: Building Allyship and Inclusion forms part of the University of Calgary’s programming for International Development Week 2023, and seeks to create a space for dialogue on the lived experiences that youth, students, faculty, and community members have had when engaging in development work. Featuring creative, mixed-media and verbal presentations, we seek to invite discussion on issues of gender and sexuality in sustainable development, and the steps we can take to collectively address these issues and create a more equitable world.

The event will be taking place on Wednesday, February 8th, from 5-7 PM (MST) in the MacKimmie Tower Room 701 and 735 at the University of Calgary. Presenters are invited to share a 5, 10, or 15 minute story or experience reflecting on issues of gender and sexuality. These experiences can be conveyed through a variety of engaging formats, including art, dance, spoken word, or verbal storytelling.
