Growing Our ABCD Practice

Over the past two years, the Building Connected Communities project has collaborated with more than 10 Community Host Organizations across Calgary, engaging diverse community groups through an Asset-based Community Development approach to community building.

At the heart of this approach is a simple but powerful shift: Looking at what is STRONG, not what is WRONG!
Rather than focusing on gaps and challenges, we recognize the strengths, gifts, relationships, people, places, and resources that already exist within our communities and explore how we can build on them to create more connected communities.

As part of this journey, our Community Connectors set out to uncover, celebrate, and highlight these incredible community assets by bringing them to life through community asset maps. And they did just that!

Join us as our Community Connectors from the Calgary Interfaith Council, the Calgary Climate Hub, and Capitol Hill Community Association share their asset maps and, more importantly, the people, places, stories and relationships behind them.
Come connect, listen, learn, and celebrate the incredible strengths that already exist within our communities. Because building connected communities starts with recognizing what we already have.
