September 2025 Practitioner Gathering Harvest - CDLI

On Wednesday October 10th CDLI hosted our ninth Community of Practice gathering of 2025.

See our shared harvest here or in the slides below. If you have a topic in mind that you would like to discuss with other community development practitioners please let us know and we will include it in a future COP date that works for you.

September Practitioner Gathering Harvest

Key points of reflection:

Room 1: Strategies for staying focused with intention in your community development work when external priorities shift.

  • Relationship along the way, not just when it’s shifting.

  • Creating shared experiences can be catalyst for change.

  • Finding common ground.

Room 3: Where do community development and activism practices unite and where are they separate for best impact?

  • Community development as consciousness raising - what is the role of community development that animates the voices of people?

  • What are the boundaries or people who are advocating for themselves within funding cycles - can groups come together and form coalitions to be supportive in this way?

Click through the slides to view the notes in their entirety. Resources offered within a particular discussion are noted in the bottom of the “slide”. General resources shared are on the second last slide.

CDLI looks forward to hosting open space COP’s for Community Development Practitioners, which includes paid and unpaid folks doing community work, on the second Wednesday of each month in 2025. Register to join us here.
