August 2025 Practitioner Gathering Harvest - CDLI
On Wednesday August 13th CDLI hosted our eighth Community of Practice gathering of 2025.
As a smaller group than usual the practitioners chose to remain together and engage in one conversation - “Balancing the language of frameworks, approaches and strategies with the language of the community to speak to community development work.”
See our shared harvest here or in the slides below. If you have a topic in mind that you would like to discuss with other community development practitioners please let us know and we will include it in a future COP date that works for you.
Key points of reflection appeared to be:
Room 3: Balancing the language of frameworks, approaches and strategies with the language of the community to speak to community development work.
Visuals are impactful to help map tasks or describe a practice that supports understanding the words, key to articulating vision and purpose.
With the inherent challenge discussed within this topic it was noted that celebrating or acknowledging milestones can go a long way in sustaining the work. It can also help to bring clarity to what each person views as success/celebratory milestones.
Click through the slides to view the notes in their entirety. Resources offered within a particular discussion are noted in the bottom of the “slide”. General resources shared are on the second last slide.
CDLI looks forward to hosting open space COP’s for Community Development Practitioners (paid and unpaid) on the second Wednesday of each month in 2025. Register to join us here.
