For the first time, The City is proclaiming August 1 as Emancipation Day to recognize the Abolition of slavery in Canada in 1834.
In celebration of this Emancipation Day, the Anti-Racism Program team is hosting an event on July 28 in the Municipal Atrium at City Hall to provide an opportunity for all to learn, reflect and engage in the fight against racism and its impact on Indigenous and Black communities.
